Absurd Insane Pricing for Home Network Planning

Tried the demo/trial mode, the tool is absoutely GREAT. Planned the first floor of my home, doors, windows, APs...wait, only 3 APs? Lemmie click upgrade and see what kind of affordable plans exist here for a home user!

$600?! $600 to lay out a single network plan for a home is just nuts. You guys REALLY need a "1 or 2 project ~2 story house home user $59 plan."

$600!? Insane. Now I get to go rebuild the house plan in some other radically inferior tool like NetSpot at $59 or Acrylic ($99 per month, I'd only need 1 month)

Go kick somebody in your sales department and wise up to the potential audience you're losing.

The current AP grouping logic when generating a report seems to group APs in a top-to-bottom, left-to-right, maximizing the number of APs shown per page. The problem is on large floor plans, the selected access points may be far apart and the plan must be very zoomed out in order to show the whole group thus losing floorplan detail which is important for reviewers and installers. The report generator should instead allow for a max window size in pixels to be set when the group and distribute APs option is selected so that the generator can then slice up the floorplan into windows of that given size, one per page, and show only the APs within that window. If there are more APs in the window than can be represented in the list, the page is repeated.

Feature request: Add support for modeling external / neighboring APs as RF interferers

In Hamina, I would like the ability to add floors above and below the active survey/design floor so I can model the impact of APs that are not part of my organization’s wireless design.

For example, in a multi-tenant building, there may be offices above, below, or adjacent to my space that have their own APs. Those APs may not be serving my users, but they still contribute RF energy, co-channel contention, adjacent-channel interference, and roaming confusion inside my environment.

I would like to be able to manually place these APs on adjacent floors or neighboring spaces and mark them as external / unmanaged APs. They should not count as part of my coverage design, capacity design, or AP inventory, but they should be included in RF simulation as interferers.

Ideally, these external APs would support basic parameters such as:

SSID/BSSID or label
Band
Channel
Channel width
Transmit power / EIRP
Approximate height
Antenna type or generic omni pattern
Floor-to-floor or wall attenuation
Optional “interferer only” mode

This would be especially useful for multi-floor buildings, shared office spaces, sound studios, medical offices, schools, warehouses, and multi-tenant environments where the RF domain is not limited to the organization’s leased space.

The goal is to more accurately represent the real RF environment by modeling APs above, below, and beside the surveyed area, even when those APs are outside of my administrative control.

I REALLY like that you have a list of recent project so we can easily switch while working on multiple designs.

I also LOVE the fact that you now show the DIRECT search result for a query instead of the folder that holds the project you’re searching. 👍

I do think the ACTIVE project should be at the top, and the RECENT should be below, making the Active project more prominent as one is more likely to go into the settings and make changes while working on it than other recent projects.

Lastly, I would like to see the option to REMOVE a project from the recents list. I sometimes work on projects that are NDA, or the customer does not want their name revealed. As an instructor those projects make come up for me, I could also see this occurring while demoing, or presenting a project to an existing customer and accidentally revealing other customers you may have.

Afternoon,

I regularly collaborate with other vendors and colleagues who are also Hamina users. However, I only have a Planner Plus account in the US region, which currently limits my visibility into projects shared with me by users in the EU region.

As a paid subscription user, I would like to request full read-only access to projects shared across regions.

For example, I am currently implementing a new campus wireless solution for a customer, while another partner is conducting a site-wide wireless validation survey. These are two independent engagements, with the validation survey forming part of a temporary scope that is repeated annually ahead of a major sporting event.

I need visibility of AP locations within the vendor’s survey so I can cross-reference information against our as-built documentation. The inability to access shared projects across regions is frustrating, particularly as a paid subscriber.

I appreciate that the other vendor can generate reports and share them with me, but this creates unnecessary administrative overhead and reduces collaboration efficiency.

BLE Heatmap Measurement

I´m looking for a tool that will allow to perform a BLE survey.
My client is a Salto partner.
Salto locking systems offers the Salto KS product, in which the door locks communicate via BLE through an IQ gateway.
A gateway costs approximately 200 euros.
https://saltosystems.com/de-de/technologieplattformen/salto-ks/

Since BLE cannot currently be surveyed using a heat map, my client is playing it safe and therefore planning for enough IQ gateways to ensure there are no issues.
Unfortunately, my client has already had a bad experience when they planned for too few IQ gateways.
The gateways are usually mounted hidden under the ceiling.
Salto KS is used in very large and expensive hotels.
One problem is that the human body attenuates the BLE signal because it is positioned between the door and the BLE transmitter.

Could you check internally whether a BLE measurement solution could be developed and whether this is a feature that is needed?
The Hamina CLIP already has integrated BLE modules; perhaps it is possible to use these for a survey.

This would be a unique selling point for Hamina.

I think that a BLE survey would make perfect sense in the area of RTLS, Human Tracking, access control and locking systems, as well as for other BLE applications.
BLE can be used to control multiple doors, which is quite useful in hotels and on ships.
BLE tags could also be used for tracking in nursing homes and hospitals.

Thank you in advance for your feedback.

When I import/update a site's WAP inventory in Hamina, I usually have to also import the floor plan too. Sometimes this adds duplicate existing floor plans to Hamina when all I want to do is add the new inventory for a site that was recently installed. Sometimes the WAP serial/MAC doesn't show up to assign the WAP in the Hamina map. To get around the duplicate floor plans, changing the WAP placements in Hamina from the import, and sometimes inventory not getting added to Hamina with the import function, I would like the ability to upload a CSV file (from a Meraki dashboard network access point list download) into a site in Hamina so I can search and assign the WAPs accordingly in the existing Hamina site map without having to also import the floor plans again to do so.

This would be a great function to design a site in Hamina with pre-assigned WAP hostnames and/or serial/mac and then export that to Meraki or another WAP NMS, so that Hamina is the source of truth of the WAP location, name, and serial/mac.

We run a Ruckus Virtual SmartZone VM in azure to manage a few hundred APs across many different clients (multitenant setup). Currently only Ruckus One is supported by Live. The controller does have a RESTful API. It varies slightly by controller ver, but here is the latest. This controller style (besides cloud-based One, Unleashed which is a mini controller hosted in an AP itself, and standalone) is still heavily in use in Enterprise environments where full in-house control is preferred or required, or where certain features (like local AD integration, data plane routing etc) are necessary.

https://docs.ruckuswireless.com/smartzone/7.1.1/vszh-public-api-reference-guide-711.html

Note that there is an old feature req to support transferring design to smartzone, but I don't know how necessary that is if map functions aren't exposed in the AP - an export to PNG should be sufficient, plus some manual placement of APs on the dots.

When you create an IDF, have the ability to draw a zone that indicates the area where that IDF will serve APs. Often this is how we get plans from LVC vendors saying "This closet will serve APs in this area." Frequently, they break the building into zones, and not only the closest IDF to ensure more even distribution across multiple closest.

This becomes very deterministic as once that zone is defined, future APs will automatically connect to the appropriate IDF. Especially when there are unknown cable tray and tray routing that is not known by the wireless engineers.
