Import and export Hamina project as a file
I need to be able to export Hamina projects, and be able to import them again later, so I can have my own backups of my data.

We've added walls to OpenIntent export/import. Currently under internal testing, available soon. -

Bryan WardExport to CAD/DWG would be absolutely AMAZING! I often have to spend time manually re-drawing AP locations inside of AutoCAD in order to give them to an architect.

Dan JonesI'd really like this if i could use a cloud storage provider (Dropbox, oneDrive, Box) to automatically backup files/images etc

Bryan WardI'd also like to be able to just store my data locally. I don't need/want the list of projects in Hamina to be full of old projects I'm not working on anymore.

WIll Jones+1 especially being able to export to a CAD/DWG file, bonus points if that could somehow be done as XREF that could be re-integrated with the originally imported CAD/DWGs

Melvin ArnellIt would be nice to be able to export this file as a png to place in visio as a documented map for a history of coverage/placements over time. It would also be nice to export this as a file that Cisco DNA or Cisco Prime can use so adding in all the walls and inclusion/exclusions do not have to be done twice.

Tobias JönssonThis would be nice. Our organization is already nervous about uploading floorplans to the cloud. It would be a nice addition to be able to export, remove and reimport at a later date if needed. However I also understand that exported files can be problematic to support for a longer period as the system gets upgraded.

John TaylorReally would like this ability one for ease of management from the Hamina portal so I don't have to see old/inactive projects without deleting them, but also so that I can back up my own data and know I have a copy should something happen.

Jeremy BakerThis would also be nice to have in the event that someone futzes about in a project.

Joerg WiebuschReally cool would be an export of the data which can be customized,...not only a backup file.
To embed the data (Heatmaps, BoM, Photos,...) in a customized or extended documentation. We have customers who have their own way in documentation. Way apart from other tools like Ekahau, Airmagnet, Acrylic and any other....
So we need to "press" the data into their format to verify it looks the same every time. It doesn´t matter that the heatmap is not the same in every tool,... ;-) but it has to be in the right place in the documentation in the correct predefined order,... -

Thierry GUERETOn Jan 3rd :"Currently under internal testing, available soon" ... nice point, Jussi, any progress ?

Joel Crane AdminHi Thierry, we don't have a Hamina-specific file format that backs up everything, but we do have OpenIntent which can be used to back up certain aspects of the project. OpenIntent currently includes:
- APs (does not include height)
- Map
- Scale
- Walls
We have some things to add like attenuating objects, scope zones, and other things, but it's a good start. I'm hesitant to mark this one as "done" because it's not quite enough to be called a "backup".
Likely, OpenIntent import/export was the "Currently under internal testing" that Jussi was referring to. -

Mark ClearAny update on extending the OpenIntent export/backup? We could use:
-IDF/Switch
-Notes
-Scope zones
-Attenuation zones
-AP Color -

Joel Crane AdminHey Mark, here is where these are at right now:
- There is growing interest in including IDFs and switches in OpenIntent schema, but it isn't defined yet. The OpenIntent team would welcome assistance with this, at which point we would be happy to add support for it from the Hamina side.
- Notes are supported in OpenIntent, but we haven't completed the integration in Hamina. We to have a development ticket for this in the backlog.
- Scope zones, same. This one is likely to happen soon
- Attenuating objects, same. Also likely to happen soon
- AP color, not currently ticketed but I don't see why not. -

Joel Crane AdminOpenIntent Import/Export has seen a bit of development work over the past few months! Here's the current status of it:

Jon LiuYes, I completely agree—and I think it would be great to also add rollback functionality, where we could choose key dates as backup points.
Recently, I accidentally changed over 2,500 walls from multiple types into a single wall type and then modified the attenuation value. It was a complete disaster to redo all that work. Normally, the undo button can handle some mistakes, but once you refresh the page or change values like I did, there’s no way to roll back. I even had to raise an urgent ticket with Hamina support, but it was still painful for everyone involved.
Fortunately, the AP locations hadn’t been altered, and I still had a PDF report for the customer. But I really don’t want to go through that again—and I’m sure others don’t either. On top of that, if your account is registered under both your name and your company, all results tie back to you when shared with others, which makes the situation even more stressful. Definitely not fun. -

Dustin BurnsThis is one of the reasons we are going back to Ekahau. We just recently switched back, and we cant access the survey files from recorded/measured surveys. There neds to be a way to go back and open old files, even if its not to work on them, and then generate the reports (still not supporting Document templates....)

Joel Crane AdminThe development team isn't actively working on this, so I've bumped it back to "Planned" for now as I do think they intend to work on it more. The OpenIntent import/export is serving this pretty well. It doesn't include everything (and doesn't do surveys at all), but it does quite a bit. The capabilities are documented here:
