We need a better icon for this to work well, such as the standard CAD data drop icon. -

Dan JonesI would like this too. I often get drawings with existing data points on them (for APs) and would like to be able to specify if they have 1 or 2 data connections and direct cables to(or through) those rather than straight back to the MDF/IDF

Jussi KiviniemiThe notes tool has icons for single & dual jack, etc. But they have no functionality that would connect the jacks to switches etc.

Magnus Solvi MergedHi,
I would greatly appreciate if you could implement simple network outlets for walls etc, and make them auto route cables to the nearest switch, just like AP's. There should be the ability to select how many rj45 jacks per outlet, so that if you select say two jacks it routes two cables to the switch. Also height adjustability would be needed to get the correct placement in 3D model.
This would really improve the WiFi planning as network outlet planning often is a part of the job before handing it over.
Also adjustable cable routing would really improve things. As of now the cable lengths calculated are worth nothing as they do not follow the buildings cable bridges. -

Julian KingI would also like to see this. There's a benefit to providing cameras and phones for power budgeting.
However, when looking at the bill of materials you may not get the whole picture as it stands for all the network runs. -

mali@mspwireless.com MergedWhen adding clients, would like an ability to specify multiple drops instead of having to add multiple clients as that will fill up the whole map.

John FullerLike someone else here mentioned, we have to put in 4, 6 or 8 data drops in some locations for fitness equipment, computer systems or AV systems. So being able to put a data drop on the plans and then indicate that is 6 drops, would be a major benefit.
Thank you. -

Matthew ZacuneThis would be very helpful for designing out the entire network for a facility. Currently the closest option is to place wired clients at each spot, and ending up with multiple overlapping clients if there are supposed to be multiple drops to a location. This results in a very messy and hard to reach map. Being able to specify wall jacks and the quantity would be great for providing the detail to the installer as well as calculating cable distances and port requirements on switches.

Peter RockService outlets are normally grouped together from as little as two to many in a MUTOA common for zone cabling. In my opinion, when planning it would be better to specify the number of outlets with a service type rather than device type. So, for example, instead of type “Computer” or “Desk Phone” it could be Copper / Coax / Fiber and broken down by UTP Cat 6, UTP Cat 6A, UTP Cat 7, HDMI / RG-6, RG-11 / OM3, OM4, OM5, OS1, OS2 etc. So the details of a "drop" when selected could be: (8) Copper UTP Cat 6, (2) OM3 (2) RG-6.
