Replace maps/floorplans
I often get revisions of floorplans from architects as projects are designed. I hate having to delete/recreate entire floors worth of designs to accommodate a few architectural changes. Please make it so floorplans can be swapped without affecting the placement of existing walls/APs/etc. Bonus points if this can do a diff between the original image and the new one and add/delete walls accordingly.

We'll do our best to get to this swiftly.... It's one of the most requested features clearly. Could've used it at a hotel survey myself today.. -

Halonen PekkaAy! Here the same need. I noted I'd need some details smudged on a floorplan. But seems, only way is to re-do the whole floor. That is not so handy. Especially as forementioned, when working on "under construction sites", those tend to get their walls replaced / reworked on every now and then (before the building is all set/build up). Those do adjust the RF environment up to point where you must consider the floorplan swap and re-work AP positions. Now to do a whole floor of 80 AP:s from "scratch" to swap the blueprints.. That is quite an effort to be made. Lots of room for "woops", that AP was not ment to be there" speculations etc.
Yes you could do versioning with map names. True. That is just a workaround. Versioning is, for me, due to reaching same design goal via two different solutions/ap placement schemas. Not that much about versioning the floor plan when it gets revised. -

Martin Tesar+1 here. Really useful in early stages of a construction when the floorplan would be slightly changed every week without a problem.

Jeremy BakerWould help with watermarking version control.
As others state drawings change, but the love we have for our WLANs never falters. Exciting. -

Jeff EnckThis honestly feels like a feature that should have been apart of Hamina since the very beginning. What takes hours should really only take a few minutes when it comes to updating maps. A huge inconvenience.

Joel Crane AdminHey Jeff, I do agree that this one is a slam-dunk. Sorry that we weren't able to get this in there on day 1 of the tool's availability. I'm hoping we can get it added soon.

Jussi Kiviniemi AdminThank you for the feedback, and especially for caring about the product enough to voice out your opinions! We'll make this soon, and at the same time "Crop" functionality...

Ruben JenssenI'm sure you already have an idea of how to do it, but if not then I propose to reuse some of the code that you have for multifloor alignment.
If you select a floorplan to be replaced(which already have walls and APs drawn on it), it should open up a dialog to either use another floorplan already uploaded in the project or select a new one to upload.
Then use the alignment function from the "multifloor menu". When you're satisfied with the alignment and press "OK", it transfers all the walls, APs etc including scale from the old floorplan.
This would be very smooth and would save us a ton of time! -

David FieldAgreed this is necessary as a feature. I do a lot of hotels and the ability to Duplicate a floor but then update the underlying drawing from the architect.

William DaBollI work on large outdoor venues. It can take multiple days to model the enviornment. And then the following year they might change a tent here and there - only for me to have to completely rework the entire project when everything else stayed the same. We need a way to swap the map images out. I hate to say their name - but Ekahau has had this for years. It should not be a major obstacle to overcome.

Joel Crane AdminHi Jeff, I don't have any indication from the product team when this will be added. For now, I have written a guide that shows how to do it manually: https://docs.hamina.com/planner/guides/replacing-maps

Robin DecloedtAny update on this?
Really spending hours on this, even with copy pasting and stuff. Have 100 of these floorplans to work through. Especially because you need to have the exact scale. -

Joel Crane Admin@Robin This isn't under active development, but the product management team is aware of it. If you need a hand moving everything over, let me know at support@hamina.com - I would be happy to assist.

MarkAnother upvote on this, we get lots of drawing revisions, especially hotels that like to move furniture and TVs about

ThomAny movement on this? Seems a small feature to be sat for almost 3 years now! As the feature set of objects has grown, it would also be useful to have the ability to pull the underlying map entirely once you're happy everything isa mapped to standard, or even just a 'hide' option

Jake SnyderMost of the methods to do this result in recreation of the Names/Numbers:
- Copy/Paste onto new floorplan
- Export to openintent, swap image and update floorplan dimensions and reimport.
This results in more work to manually name APs after the swap, resulting in inconsistencies between revisions. Being able to swap the image and align/scale it without these downsides would be a huge time savings and effort reducer. -

JimI don't know if Thom the commenter above me will ever see this, but you can remove your floor plan by going into the settings where you would rename plan, go to 'adjust' below and you can change the opacity to 0%

Rudi Mitander IngebrethsenDo you have an ETA for this? I have some pending changes to a larger project that I already have manually replaced several times already. So I know the pain :)

Joel Crane Admin@Rudi Unfortunately, I don't have an ETA. When/if this gets developed is up to the product management/development team, and they haven't given an estimate.

J.W. HannamWe're getting on nearly 4 years for this feature request? Can the product team push this forward? It's currently the 2nd highest suggestion/feature request on the board.

Joel Crane AdminHi J.W.,
I spoke with the product team about it recently, and they were very interested in doing it, but work has not started... they have identified a bunch of higher-priority things that they need to do first. Sorry that we haven't been able to get the prioritized and done sooner. -
